The Nepisiguit River company is housed in one of Altantic Provinces' oldest buildings..  In fact,  the Old Post Office as it called was designed by Thomas Fuller one of Canada's foremost architects a in the late 19th Century.  His most important work is that of the Parliament buildings in Ottawa.

The building was erected in 1885 and served as a Post Office until the late 1960's where it was used as the headquarters for the local Militia unit their move to more modern facilities within the limits of the City of Bathurst in 1992.Old20Post20Office1.jpg (7874 octets)  The building stood vacant until the Bathurst Historical Society,  Bathurst City Council and the Bathurst Downtown Revitalization Commission had taken the initiative to ensure categorization of the building as a New Brunswick and Canadian Historical Landmark,   Moreover attempts were made to secure occupancy of the Building.    Thus in 1997 a local businessman set up shop in what became Atlantic Canada's leading Outdoor Store, the Nepisiguit River Company
